| Auckland Zoo | Education programmes for primary, secondary, and tertiary aged students. The ‘Awesome Aotearoa” and ‘Protecting Aotearoa’ programmes have a focus on conservation tools used to protect our native and endemic species. | Glenfern Sanctuary | School groups (primary & secondary) can arrange guided tours to the Sanctuary on Great Barrier Island. Focus can be tailored to requirements but is usually specific to the Sanctuary. | Matuku Link | Teacher-led/supported. Large covered site with access to bush, wetlands where patake have been released and a plant nursery. Informal education sessions covering NZ conservation issues in general but more specifically wetland and water issues. Schools can arrange be-spoke environmental education visits to the site or join monthly volunteer sessions (planting/weeding/nursery). | Shakespear Open Sanctuary | SOSSI offer a range of Sanctuary experiences and tailor visits to learning objectives. Hosting primary and secondary schools, local experts can talk on a number of conservation topics; wetland, stream, scrub, forest and seashore habitats; plants and animals of the park; the impact of predator eradication on native plants and animals; bird relocation; the cultural history of the area and the workings of the farm integrated with the Sanctuary. | $2 per student. | Get in touch |

| Tiritiri Matangi Open Sanctuary | Offers a comprehensive range of educational programmes, closely tied to the curriculum, for students from years 1 -13 and tertiary levels. An education resource is available for years 3-10 providing trip preparation plans, activities for the ferry crossing and opportunities to be a scientist on the island. | $2.00 per student. Fullers360 ferries offer discounted rates for school parties to Tiritiri Matangi Island. Deciles 1-6 schools can apply to their Growing Minds fund which offers funding for visits. | Get in touch |
