| Auckland Zoo | Education sessions for students from early childhood to tertiary. Programmes offered include 'Awesome Aotearoa — what makes NZ species unique' and for secondary students 'Urban Ark — what threatens our unique species'. Self-guided zoo visits are also an option and teacher resources are provided. An outreach programme is available for year 5-13 students including a full day/overnight conservation field trip to Tāwharanui Open Sanctuary. | ECE - $5 p/s. Primary - secondary $10 p/s. | Glenfern Sanctuary | School groups (primary & secondary) can arrange guided tours to the Sanctuary on Great Barrier Island. Focus can be tailored to requirements but is usually specific to the Sanctuary. A Hillary Outdoor Education Centre is based on the island and visits usually include a guided tour of Glenfern Sanctuary. | Depends on requirements. Payment in volunteer hours in welcomed. | Matuku Link | Teacher-led/supported. Large covered site with access to bush, wetlands where patake have been released and a plant nursery. Informal education sessions covering NZ conservation issues in general but more specifically wetland and water issues. Schools can arrange be-spoke environmental education visits to the site or join monthly volunteer sessions (planting/weeding/nursery). | Shakespear Open Sanctuary | SOSSI offer a range of Sanctuary experiences and tailor visits to learning objectives. | Tiritiri Matangi Open Sanctuary | Offers a comprehensive range of educational programmes, closely tied to the curriculum, for students from years 1 -13 and tertiary levels. An education resource is available for years 3-10 providing trip preparation plans, activities for the ferry crossing and opportunities to be a scientist on the island. | $2.00 per student.
