Matiu/Somes Island | Volunteer-guided educational tours for school groups (primary & secondary) visiting Matiu/Somes Island. Half-day morning or afternoon tours cover the island's unique cultural and natural history and can be tailored to the groups educational focus. Linked to the NZ Curriculum and NCEA. Otari Wilton's Bush | The Otari-Wilton’s Bush Nature Trail/Te Ara o te Ngahere resource supports a self-guided walk for teachers to use independently with school groups. The kit is designed for use with students aged 8 - 12 years. Includes links to curriculum, student resources and post trip activites. | Free. Pūkaha National Wildlife Centre | School group visits include an informative guided tour of Pūkaha’s forest and the fascinating native plants and animals found along the way. Includes a focus on introduced predators and their impact on our native life. Junior ranger programmes are available during school holidays. ZEALANDIA Te Māra a Tāne | A range of opportunities for ECE, primary and secondary schools. Sessions are available at the Sanctuary and as outreach at schools. Zealandia also offers sleepovers, night walk experiences and self-guided visits. Sessions range in duration from full day to one hour for younger visitors. 'Nature at Your Place', is a fully funded programme for decile 1-6 schools which includes two outreach programmes and a Sanctuary visit. The Education Team also work with schools on the Miramar peninsula as part of Predator Free Wellington. Various resources are available to compliment the field trip. | Costs range depending on the experience booked.
