Guthrie Smith TrustGuthrie-Smith Tutira offers a learning environment for all age groups, with a wide variety of programmes including environmental education. The 'All About Trees' programme is suited to Year 4 upwards and can be tailored to meet specific learning outcomes. It includes an introductory session at school and follows with a session on-site as part of a full day, part day, or in-camp experience.Varies depending on requirements.Get in touch
Kiwi CrècheEducational talks about North Island Brown Kiwi and the possibility of seeing a kiwi chick. Held on Tuesdays from December - July (booking essential). Other dates maybe available with some fees.No charge, koha welcome.Get in touch
National AquariumRuns an extensive range of education programmes for early childhood, primary, secondary and tertiary students. Two-hour programmes, developed in line with the NZ Curriculum framework, involving students in interactive, hands-on and inquiry-based activities. There are also secondary school student research opportunities.Primary $4.50.
Secondary $6.50.
Tertiary $11.00.

Boundary Stream Mainland IslandBoundary Stream Poutiri Ao ō Tāne is a DOC managed mainland island on public conservation land. Schools can take groups as a teacher lead experience. Contact the local DOC office well in advance to make sure conditions are appropriate and to see if a staff member is available to greet the group. No charge.Get in touch
