Predator free farm award

Farmers are doing amazing work as part of the nationwide Predator Free New Zealand movement. The Predator Free Farm Award acknowledges farmers who have put in place systems to effectively manage and monitor predators. The award is sponsored by us, The Predator Free New Zealand Trust, and the New Zealand Farm Environment Trust. Awards are presented annually through the Ballance Farm Environment Awards.

Farmers are an essential part of the Predator Free New Zealand movement. In the words of Sir Rob Fenwick, chairperson of the Predator Free New Zealand Trust, “farmers are the guardians of our landscape… it isn’t conceivable that we will reach Predator Free 2050 without their support.”

Farmers who have been successful in controlling predators are contenders. They are likely to have wider native biodiversity and habitat enhancement programmes in place.

Awards for 2019, are being given out throughout the country starting on the 22 February. Read about our winners here.
